Contingency Plan
How can stair climbers become part of your contingency plan if your lift fails?
In a market place where more people have the basic requirement to use lifts do you have a contingency plan for when a lift fails? The current lead time for lift repairs sits around 4- 6 weeks. This includes the initial call out time, ordering parts from Europe and fitting parts.
Some of these parts for aging lifts are now obsolete so an entire lift refit may be required (From 12 weeks from the lift start date). Your current plan maybe “we have two lifts, so if one goes the other is good still”. Single lift facilities are incredibly vulnerable so having a rigorous contingency plan is essential.
Our range of stair climbers can add to this plan and can not only ease the worry of the ‘what ifs’ but add a vital part to your FM planning with regards to access and evacuation.
We currently work with many facilities as part of their contingency plan such as Claridges and The British Academy.

Sean McQuaid
Stadium Operations Manager – Colchester Utd FC
“JobServe Community Stadium recently approached The Stair Climbing Company to service all the Stadium’s Evacuation Chairs and provide training for the staff of Colchester United Football Club. Chris and his team meticulously reviewed the current provision, serviced it, and provided recommendations to improve the operation of the equipment. Following this, they worked closely with us to come up with a mutually convenient date and time for staff training. On the day, Chris provided training for the staff with a high level of professionalism and followed this up with additional material to help with the future operation of the equipment. In summary, the Club were very happy with the service provided, and we would have no hesitation in using their services again.”

HSE Manager – England Rugby
“At Twickenham Stadium we have committed to ensuring the venue is accessible to all. Whilst the design of the stadium brings its challenges, in particular the level two bars which had limited access via external stairs, we believe the recent procurement of the stair climber has provided sufficient and reasonable adjustments enabling wheelchair users quick and safe access. Not only does this improve our customer experience but is also available during our C&E events in the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation and is one of the many controls adopted within our ongoing inclusive access improvements. Certainly a worthwhile investment.”
