In 2018 we were approached by The City of Bath to provide access to initially their Guildhall. This was closely followed by access to the Roman Baths and the Art gallery. This provision made Bath the first fully accessible world heritage site to wheelchair users. The provision of stair climbers in the Guildhall has allowed a safe access for the Mayor of Bath to safely leave his chambers in the event of lift failure or emergency.

Within the Roman Baths there have been several incidents of lift failure in the lower areas which would have limited the access to wheelchair users and less able. With the stair climbers in place the access was therefore not limited and the continuation of good access was in place.

We followed this work up by taking over the servicing and testing of their evacuation chairs as well as the training in all three facilities.

This has allowed The City of Bath to have their access and evacuation (Service/Maintenance and Training) under one umbrella.

“We contacted The Stair Climbing Company to provide a sustainable solution for a refit we had within Mappin & Webb, Chester. The biggest hurdle we had was providing wheelchair access to a listed building with steps going down into the store. Chris provided a solution and trained the team at M & W to deliver on a daily basis. TSCCL revisit every 6 months to provide ongoing support to the team at Mappin & Webb.”

“We have had a partnership with F1 Global for several years. We were asked to produce a touring stage for them and we consulted with The Stair Climber Company with regards to access. They custom built a Skyline to offer mobile access to the stand. Easy and informative company to work with who use innovative ideas to solve stairway access issues.”
